I went to Northeast China on 27th Dec 2007 for a 8-days vacation.
Before I started the journey, I had lots of expectations, such as seeing a white world, the wusong rime, Russian buildings and the ice lantern exhibution etc...At the end, I am disapointed because the snow was not as much as I expected. The lowest temperature was down to minus 19 degrees...freezing, although that, I still cannot see the wusong rime...I am very disappointed.
Anyway, I also found other interesting things in these cities:
- The price of Russian nested doll (know as matryoshka doll) in Harbin could be up to RMB16,000...Although it is a handcraft, I am not sure why it is so expensive and who will buy it...I should ask the salesman to find it out...
- SEIBU, Prada and LV (Louis Vuitton) are available in Shenyang. I guess the uneven distribution of wealth is quite worst in there (or on the global actually???).
- The dumplings in there are so delicious. I planed to have all vegetable meals in this trip but I didn't carry out...I am a loser. (Sophia: you know I love dumplings...I don’t know when is my next trip to Beijing so I can try those 20-30 kinds of dumplings you mentioned...)
- The Ice Lantern exhibition is marvelous!

Having hot delicious dumplings in cold area is just like enjoying ice-creams in summer. The extremes increase our taste.
